The Met Office has issued yet another weather alert as temperatures could be set to plummet in the North East.
Durham and Northumberland are included in the yellow weather warning for ice, which is in place from 6pm today (December 26) until 10am tomorrow, with people urged to take care.
The weather experts said there will be “icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths leading to a greater chance of injuries or accidents”.

They also warned of potential snow in higher areas with difficult driving conditions expected to last for much of Tuesday morning.
“Wintry showers will continue through this evening but as skies clear, patchy ice is expected to develop on some untreated surfaces,” a spokesman said.
“Cloud and rain will arrive from the west through Tuesday morning with temperatures starting to rise. Any snow will be reserved for higher ground with patchy and temporary accumulations of 1-2 cm above around 300 to 400 metres.”
The rest of Tuesday will stay cloudy with a chance of drizzle. Find our full forecast here.
