The North East looks set for a day of mixed conditions with blustery showers and sunny intervals forecast by the Met Office.
The leading meteorologists have forecast bright conditions, interspersed by showers which are expected to become more frequent as the day develops. The mercury is set to hit a chilly maximum of 7 °C so make sure to pack a jacket if you are outside by the evening.
The Met Office is also forecasting strong, gusty winds throughout with conditions set to feel cold. The temperature is likely to plummet further heading into the evening with a minimum of 3 °C expected.

The following conditions are expected for the rest of the day: "Blustery showers and sunny intervals expected throughout the day, showers becoming heavier and more frequent during the afternoon.
"Feeling cold with strong, gusty winds throughout. Maximum temperature 7 °C."
Heading into the evening, the Met Office have forecast the following conditions: "Showers moving away to leave plenty of clear spells, outbreaks of rain possible across the south around midnight.
"Feeling cold with strong winds which ease through the early hours Minimum temperature 3 °C."

The mercurial weather will not end there, with Thursday due to be similarly mixed in terms of conditions with sunny spells and rain forecast.
The Met Office have forecast the following conditions for tomorrow: "Cold and mostly clear to start, but bands of rain and strong winds expected towards midday with clear periods and isolated showers in the afternoon, but remaining windy. Maximum temperature 9 °C."
Heading into the weekend, the Met Office is expecting wind and rain, again interspersed by clearer bouts of sun, with the temperature set to drop through the weekend.
They forecast the following: "A changeable and windy few days, with successive bouts of rain separated by clearer but showery interludes. Temperatures around average at first but becoming colder through the weekend."
