A huge band of rain is set to batter the South West overnight, according to the Met Office forecast. Torrential downpours and near gale-force winds are expected to hit the region later this evening.
It comes after torrential downpours hit part of the region hard over the weekend, causing flash flooding amid a Met Office yellow thunderstorm warning. The warning was in place in Bristol and parts of Somerset yesterday (July 9), as strong winds blew through the region.
While no thunderstorms are forecast today (July 10), more wet and wild weather is on the horizon, with heavy downpours expected to hit Bristol later this evening. From around 5pm, the first specs of rain are expected, turning heavier as the evening wears on.

Temperatures are expected to top out at around 20C, though strong, blustery winds are expected to make it feel significantly cooler, only around 16C. Windspeeds are predicted to reach up to 33mph.
The heaviest rains are due to hit from around 10pm, say the forecaster, with almost the whole of the Westcountry covered in what is believed to be a torrential downpour. The band of rain is due to pass over Bristol, heaving North East, before finally leaving the region by around 2am on Tuesday (July 11).
The Met Office says: "Cloud will thicken from the west with scattered showers merging into longer spells of heavy rain through the day, potentially turning thundery at times.
"Breezy, particularly around coasts, and average temperatures for the time of year. Maximum temperature 20 °C."
The Met Office forecasts showers for much of the rest of the week, with more thunder due in some parts of Somerset on Tuesday.
