Met Eireann's 30-day forecast shows one weather system 'more dominant than usual' as big change expected

Met Eireann's long-range forecast shows good weather is on the way over the next month.

The national forecaster's predictions for the next 30 days indicate that high pressure will dominate, meaning lower than normal rainfall is likely.

Sunny spells and temperatures slightly above average are also expected for the rest of April and into early May.

Conditions will likely be "fairly typical" for those months most days, meaning the bad weather of recent months could be behind us.

Here is Met Eireann's 30 day forecast for Ireland:

Week 1: April 15 to April 21

In week 1, high pressure looks set to be positioned close to Ireland keeping the weather relatively settled. Mean air temperatures are expected to be above average. With high pressure more dominant than usual, rainfall amounts are forecast to be lower than normal. Expect typical conditions for mid-April with plenty of sunny spells and outbreaks of rain at times.

Week 2: April 22 to April 28

In week 2, high pressure looks set to decline with low pressure expected to influence Ireland’s weather at times. Mean air temperatures are forecast to be slightly above the seasonal average rainfall amounts are likely to be above average for late April, with rain or showers at times.

Week 3: April 29 to May 5

Confidence in the forecast for week 3 is low, but high pressure looks to be more dominant than usual bringing more settled weather than typical for the time of year. There is a weak signal for temperatures to be above average, but precipitation will be around normal for the time of year.

Week 4: May 6 to May 12

Looking ahead to week 4, the level of uncertainty in the forecast increases substantially. Current indications are that conditions will be fairly typical for early May, with average temperatures and amounts of precipitation.
