An end to cold, miserable and windy weather could be in sight as Met Eireann forecasts a jump in temperatures is on the way following a spate of bad conditions.
Ireland was battered by wind and rain on Wednesday evening with weather warnings issued for much of the country. This has been a regular occurrence since the start of the year, with the national forecaster even announcing that last month was the wettest March on record.
However, people might be able to start dusting off the garden furniture in the shed or getting their swimming trunks ready for a trip to the beach because the weekend is set to bring some sunny spells.

Although summer isn't completely here, there could be some light rain and drizzle with temperatures dipping a small bit in the nighttime, for the most part, it will be heating up and hitting 17 degrees in some places.
Here is the forecast for the weekend and the beginning of next week according to Met Eireann.
Early on Friday morning, rain in the south will clear. The rest of the day will bring a mix of sunshine and showers. They will be heaviest and most frequent over the northern half of the country with a chance of hail. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light to moderate northwesterly breezes.
On Friday night, showers will gradually die out and it will become mainly dry with clear spells. Cloud thickening from the southwest overnight. Lows of 0 to 3 degrees with light and variable breezes and a touch of frost are possible.
Saturday will start off dry with some bright spells. Clouds and outbreaks of rain will gradually extend northeastwards and will become light and patchy in the evening. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with light to moderate southeasterly breezes. Saturday night will be mild and mostly cloudy with patchy light rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with light to moderate southerly breezes.
Sunday will be mild and mostly cloudy with patchy light rain and drizzle. Some bright intervals will develop throughout the day. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees with light to moderate south to southwest breezes. Sunday night will be mild and mainly dry with some patches of mist or drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.
Monday will be mostly cloudy. There will be a fair amount of dry weather and some passing light showers. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with mostly light southerly breezes.
Tuesday will continue mild and mainly dry. Wednesday will be a bit cooler with a good deal of dry weather and a few showers.
