The sunny weather could be here to stay as Met Eireann is forecasting temperatures soaring up to the mid-20s in some parts of the country this weekend with southern counties' set to see the most sun.
After an unsettled week, many people will be looking forward to some sunny weather for the weekend as we head into the latter half of May and move toward summer in June. Although the beginning of the week will only reach up to 19C, when Thursday hits the temperatures will rise and continue to soar into the weekend.
Here is the forecast for the week ahead, including the hottest counties pinpointed by the national forecaster:

Monday
Throughout the rest of the evening, it will stay dry. While it will be mostly clear at first, it will turn a little cloudier overnight. Lowest temperatures of 5C to 9C in a very light northwesterly breeze.
Tuesday
Tuesday will be largely dry with spells of hazy sunshine, the best of which is in the south and east. Cloudier in the west and north with the chance of the odd spot of coastal drizzle.
Highest temperatures of 13C to 19C, coolest along northern and Atlantic fringes with a moderate onshore breeze here. Elsewhere it will feel warm in any sunshine with just a light northwest breeze.
Moving into Tuesday night it will be dry and clear, apart from coastal showers in the northwest. Lows of 4C to 8C in light northeasterly breezes.
Wednesday
On Wednesday it will be dry and mostly sunny over the southern half of the country.
Cloudier skies further north will produce patches of light rain or showers with highest temperatures of 14C to 19C, in just light northwest breezes with best values across the east and south.
Thursday
Moving into Thursday it will be warm and sunny for most with temperatures climbing into the high teens or low 20s widely.
At night it will be cooler however along north-facing coasts. Winds will be mostly light northerly, though coastal breezes will set in at times.
Friday and the weekend
Little change with warm and mostly dry conditions continuing. Sunny on Friday but perhaps turning cloudier over the weekend with the chance of a little rain in parts of the north or west on Saturday.
