Met Eireann issues June forecast with Ireland set to sizzle in heat spell

Met Eireann has issued a stunning forecast for June with high pressure bringing plenty of sunshine.

Ireland will bask in sunny and dry weather for most of the month, according to the national forecaster's long-range forecast.

The mercury is set to jump to a scorching 20 degrees this Saturday and it'll be the warmest day of the bank holiday weekend, according to Weather Alerts Ireland.

The first week of June will see largely settled weather with the mercury increasing to around 1 degree above normal temperatures.

Additionally, there will be plenty of dry spells thanks to the high pressure as total rainfall will be below average across the country.

There will be a brief interval from the good weather as week two will bring low pressure in the north Atlantic.

The small blip will result in above-average amount of showers and spells of rain through the period, most frequent in northern and western areas.

Temperatures are expected to fall back to around normal in all areas.

But settled conditions will make a return in week three with drier than normal weather and higher temperatures, though rainfall will be near normal in Ulster.

As for the last week of June, current indications say Ireland will see mixed weather with slightly above normal temperatures taking over the southern half of the country while it'll be normal elsewhere.

The south will also be drier than normal, with rainfall totals elsewhere around average.

The exception will be parts of Ulster, which may be slightly wetter than normal.
