Met Eireann’s forecast over the coming days will see a return of sunshine for some however, it will almost always be interrupted by the arrival of light to more persistent showers.
The week ahead’s predicted weather is quite dull and grim for most, although temperatures are due to remain in the high teens and low twenties.
Today will be a largely dry day, apart from a few showers mainly affecting eastern counties.
There will be a mix of cloud and sunny spells, with highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in light east or variable breezes.
Friday will bring mostly dry conditions on Friday with sunny spells, but it will be cloudier in the southwest of the country with a few light showers possible.
As the day goes on, cloud will extend eastwards across the country along with a few light showers - more persistent along the west coast by evening.
These showers are due to extend eastwards across the country, however, some southeastern coastal counties will remain dry.
Maximum temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees are expected in a moderate southwest breeze, fresh along Atlantic coasts.
Saturday will be another rather cloudy day with occasional rain or showers, but lengthy dry and bright periods are expected in the east of the country.
Top temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees are expected and it will be warmest in the southeast.
On Saturday night,the rain will return in the form of scattered outbreaks of rain with the possibility of more persistent rain in the south of the country.
Lowest temperatures will hit 12 degrees in Ulster while other regions will reach 17 degrees overnight with a moderate northwest breeze.
Closing out the week, patchy rain is due to clear on Sunday morning and will become mostly dry.
There will be a mix of cloud and sunny spells along with well scattered showers.
Maximum temperatures will range from 17 to 23 degrees, and will be warmest in southern counties in light northwest or variable winds.
There will be a mostly dry start to Sunday evening, but outbreaks of rain will extend from the west overnight.
As for next week, Met Eireann says: “Current indications are that Monday will be a rather cloudy and damp day with scattered outbreaks of rain.
“There will be some dry and bright periods, mainly across the east of the country. Maximum temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees in a moderate southwest breeze. Humid and breezy on Monday night with patchy rain or drizzle.”
Sun worshippers can be rest assured that the sunshine is due to return in month of August, and current indications show August 5 to 11 bringing the most glorious of sunshine.
The Irish forecaster says: “In week 2 of the forecast, there is a signal towards high pressure being more prevalent than usual for this time of year which would allow for rather settled weather conditions over Ireland.
“Mean air temperatures are predicted to be slightly above normal. Rainfall totals are forecast to be below normal across the country.”
