Met Eireann has forecast a washout weekend with a status yellow rain and thunderstorm warning in place for eleven counties.
Alongside the warning published early this morning for all of Munster and Connacht, the Irish forecaster said to expect: “Heavy showers or longer spells of rain with thundery downpours in some places may lead to spot flooding.”
The alert will kick in tomorrow at 12:00, lasting until the same time on Saturday with coastal counties in for potential gale force winds coming in off the coast.

It seems the rest of the country won’t be escaping the grim conditions as current predictions for Friday show heavy rain in the west and southwest while patchy light rain or drizzle is due elsewhere.
The rain will move northeastwards across the rest of the country through the afternoon and early evening and will be followed by scattered showers.
There will be heavy and possibly thundery downpours at times, giving a risk of spot flooding while southeast winds veer westerly.
There will be strong winds along the western and southwestern coasts especially. Highest afternoon temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees.
Saturday will then bring with it cloudy and wet conditions as spells of rain and heavy showers hit areas under the active warning - and some may be thundery.
Highest temperatures will range from 12 to 16 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southeast wind.
Current forecasts show Sunday bringing a mix of sunny spells and widespread heavy and possibly thundery showers.
Highest temperatures will range from 13 to 17 degrees in a moderate to fresh south to southwest breeze.
There was hope that things would pick up after the weekend however, new predictions from the Irish forecaster show a “generally unsettled midweek as low pressure continues to dominate.”
