Mesut Ozil agent swipe at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over Chelsea transfer before Arsenal return

Mesut Ozil's agent Erkut Sogut has made a sly remark regarding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's decision to join Chelsea. The 33-year-old striker swapped the Camp Nou for Stamford Bridge on summer transfer deadline day, penning a two-year deal.

Aubameyang, who spent four years at Arsenal, was a fans' favourite at the Emirates Stadium. The Gabon international featured 163 times for the Gunners, directly contributing towards 113 goals.

His impressive displays helped the north Londoners lift the FA Cup and Community Shield, while also donning the famous number 14 shirt once worn by club legend Thierry Henry. But, after signing for rivals Chelsea, Aubameyang's relationship with the Gunners now seems to have been broken and Sogut has insisted that his client Ozil would never have thought of doing such a thing.

Speaking to Tribal Football, Sogut said: "[Mesut Ozil] could never play for another English club, he’s not like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He loved his time at Arsenal is still in contact with a lot of players, not least Bukayo Saka, they have a special relationship."

Any chance of Aubameyang salvaging his legacy at Arsenal was seemingly nullified after he was heard to be criticising former boss Mikel Arteta in a leaked video which went viral last month. The video was taken in January as completed his move to Barcelona.

In the video, the former Arsenal captain was asked about his move to the Catalan side and whether he was happier now that he had left London Colney. He said: "I'm more than happy. Spain changed my life. The rest of the team at Barcelona are very cool, there is a lot of young players as well but they listen.

"I remember, they first called my father [his manager], they called him and we knew that the manager of Barcelona [Xavi] called me and said 'I didn't know there was an opportunity because you had those problems with Arsenal, if you come you will help us a lot."

Aubameyang eventually responded to the video and apologised for what he said, claiming that red mist had descended on him. The striker is now set to face his old club as Chelsea welcome Arsenal to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

It's fair to say that it's going to be a feisty affair amid the snowballing drama...
