A Merseyside pub could be crowned CAMRA's coveted Pub of the Year in their 2022 competition.
The awards recognise the best pubs, clubs, beers and cider across the UK, with New Brighton's own The Magazine Hotel in the top 16. The 16 regional finalists will now battle it out for the chance to bag the National Pub of the Year crown, which is the highest accolade bestowed on the country's pubs.
Like many big events, CAMRA's awards were put on hold in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic which dominated the last two years. It was last won by the Bell Inn in Aldworth, Berkshire, in 2019.

There's a number of qualities that are assessed by CAMRA throughout the judging process, with the finalists' atmosphere, décor, welcome, service, inclusivity and overall impression all closely examined, as well as the most important factor - the quality of live beer, real cider and perry. The winner will be announced on November 30, 2022.
Traditional venue The Magazine Hotel has been recognised for its history, as well as its neighbourhood charm. Dating from 1759, the multi-roomed New Brighton pub has experienced hardships, with a fire causing damage in 2010.
The Magazine was carefully restored, and maintains its famed character and history. It overlooks Egremont Promenade, and boasts beautiful views over the River Mersey to Liverpool.
It's known and loved for its wide selection of ales, with its Draught Bass particularly popular. The pub also offers three guest ales, one of which is usually from a local brewery.
Andrea Briers, national coordinator for the Pub of the Year competition, said: "This is an incredibly difficult time for many of our beloved pubs as they jump from one crisis to yet another one. The fact that we're still seeing such shining examples of pub excellence despite these challenges is incredible, and a real testament to these winners.
"I'd encourage everyone to go out and support their local and even seek out these fantastic pubs in your area – they really are the cream of the crop and uphold the very highest standards of what makes a great pub."
