Merseyside bus drivers to strike next week as Stagecoach workers vote to walk out

Bus passengers across Merseyside are set for severe disruption and delays beginning next week when Stagecoach workers go out on strike.

The dispute affects 370 members of Unite, who are employed as bus drivers and engineers and work at the company's Gilmoss depot on the East Lancashire Road in Liverpool. The union says the action has been called as a result of Stagecoach failing to make workers a fair pay offer.

Unite says the drivers are looking for a fair deal that would raise the current pay rate of £12.69 an hour. Initial strikes have been called for Thursday, June 30 and also for Monday, July 4.
