We have a new franchise mark hit today for the Cleveland Browns. Wide receiver Amari Cooper has become the first wide receiver in franchise history to hit 1,000 yards receiving in back-to-back seasons. This happened on the first play of the game as quarterback Joe Flacco found him for 53 yards.
After racking up 1,160 yards receiving and nine touchdowns a year ago, Cooper entered the game with 985 yards on the year. Last year was a career year for Cooper, his first in a Cleveland uniform, and it looks like he is going to set another new mark this year for the brown and orange.
While it seems quite unbelievable, the Browns have never had the consistent play at quarterback or wide receiver in the modern days of football to see this mark hit. With three catches, 150 yards, and a touchdown on the day, Cooper could just be getting started against the Houston Texans.
And to think, the Browns got Cooper for just the cost of a fifth round pick.
