Memphis Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman revealed that Memphis talked about a Marcus Smart trade with the Boston Celtics for some time before the night Boston pivoted from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Griz to complete the Kristaps Porzingis trade in the three-team deal that brought the Latvian center to the Celtics.
The Grizzlies introduced Smart at Las Vegas Summer League this past Friday afternoon, with the Flower Mound native saying that he is excited for a fresh start with his new ball club, shedding some additional light on the unexpected trade that has transformed the rosters of both teams moving forward.
