A Melbourne woman who started a fire that left three people dead, including a three-week-old baby, is set to plead guilty.
Jenny Hayes appeared in the Supreme Court of Victoria where she was facing six charges over the blaze which killed Abigail Forrest, her partner Inderpal Singh and their daughter Ivy.
In December 2020, emergency services were called to a blaze at Totem Way in Point Cook, in Melbourne's south-west, where they found the three bodies.
Ms Hayes was arrested a day later and charged with murder and arson causing death.
But the court on Wednesday heard a plea deal had been struck between prosecutors and the defence.
"I understand this matter has resolved," Judicial Registrar Tim Freeman said.
Prosecutors told the court Ms Hayes would now only plead guilty to arson causing death.
Ms Hayes, who appeared in court from the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, did not speak at the hearing.
The court will now fix a date for Ms Hayes to formally plead guilty before a pre-sentence hearing is set where victim impact statements will be read to the court.
"I've got a whole series of dates but I wanted to check with the family," the prosecutor said.
Judicial registrar Freeman today ordered Ms Hayes to return to court at the end of the month.
"I will further remand Ms Hayes in custody to appear on that date," he said.
