Melania Trump attended the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, alongside President Donald Trump. The Melania Trump UN appearance drew attention after Trump paused his speech to praise his wife and ask where she was seated. Cameras then showed the first lady smiling and waving from the audience.

The moment came while Trump was discussing Melania's work involving children displaced by the Russia-Ukraine war. He thanked her before looking across the hall and asking, 'Where is our First Lady? Where is she?' He then said she was 'around here someplace' before continuing his remarks.
