Melania Trump makes rare political statement at White House Easter Egg Roll

  • First Lady Melania Trump made a rare comment about the war in Iran at the White House Easter Roll on Monday.
  • “What is your message to children who find themselves in war zones?” a reporter asked. “Well, all of this is happening for their future. So they will be safe in years to come,” the first lady replied.
  • Her comment came after President Donald Trump addressed families at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, telling them about the recent mission to rescue a US service member whose F-15 fighter jet was shot down over Iran.
  • The president took questions from reporters before taking a walk through the Easter Egg Roll crowd. Trump said he was engaged in talks with the new Iranian regime and hinted that the war could end if their leadership agrees to his terms.
  • He also insisted that Iranians support his war, saying, "The Iranian people, when they don't hear bombs go off, they're upset. They want to hear bombs because they want to be free.”
