Meghan Trainor has left fans divided over the "old-fashioned" name she gave her second child.
The All About That Bass singer gave birth to her second child with husband Darryl Sabara on July 1st. Taking to Instagram, she announced the birth of her baby boy with a sweet post-birth snap.
"On July 1st (our 7 year anniversary of our first date) we welcomed Barry Bruce Trainor into the world,” she wrote. "He was a big boy at 8lbs 7oz…and sideways (transverse), but we had an amazing, successful c-section, and I finally got my skin to skin time!"
Meghan concluded: “Thank you to all of the incredible doctors and nurses who took such great care of us."
Fans took to the comments to congratulate the new mother, with one writing: "Go Mama!! And welcome to the party, Barry!! What a lucky dude!!"
A second added: "Congrats! Welcome baby Barry! I’m so glad you had such a better experience! I bet Riley is over the moon to have a brother!"
"Welcome Barry Bruce Trainor! We're so happy to meet you," a third put.
Meanwhile on Reddit, some fans were confused over the "classic" and "unusual" name for her child.
"I kind of like the old-is-new trend with some classics, but there are some I just don't understand the appeal of at all," one commented, unsure if the name had grown on them yet.
A second chimed in, suggesting that celebrities were trying to come up with a name that was as old-fashioned as possible. They wrote: "It's like the goal is to see who can come up with a more old fashioned name than anyone else.
"It has to be old enough that's it's now considered 'fresh', but if it's not old enough, then it's too 'dated'. Weird."
"I don’t personally like it but people name their sons Harry, and it’s better than that. It’s just old fashioned, but I don’t see anything wrong with it," a third added.
