Meghan Markle would like a career in politics and is building the foundations for this now, a royal author has claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex has been outspoken on several pressing issues in the past - and has been campaigning for better parental leave in the US.
Several weeks ago, she also accompanied her husband Prince Harry to the U nited Nations in New York, where he gave a speech on Nelson Mandela Day.
And now author Tom Bower, who has just released the book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, believes US-based could be eyeing up a seat in the House of Congress.
However, he believes it could be a few years yet before she launches a full political offensive.
He told the Daily Mail's Palace Confidential show: "I think she'd quite like a political role, I think she'll first wait to see her children into school, she'll build the foundations for it
"But she's a very good-looking woman, she’s sassy, she's got her issues like parental rights – there have been worse people who have been congresswomen, so there's a good chance."

However, Mr Bower added that a career in politics could prove tricky for Meghan too.
He explained: "Her problem is twofold: One is that it's very badly paid and Meghan needs a lot of money to live, and secondly you've got to be pretty tough in a political fight.
"Whether she has the ability to be so tough and insensitive to go with the rocks and rolls, we'll see – she can't sue people as she'd like to in Britain for attacking her'.
Among the claims in Mr Bower's new book are that Meghan threw a cup of tea in the air during a Royal tour, while the Queen was said to be pleased the duchess couldn't attend Prince Philip's funeral.
The book also claims that Harry and Meghan wanted to appear with the Queen on Buckingham Palace's balcony during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last month.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that a biographer who has written a book about Harry and Meghan in the past is working on a new title.
Omid Scobie co-wrote Finding Freedom which made explosive claims both in its 2020 first edition and in an updated version which came out last year.
Scobie's as-yet-untitled follow-up is set to be released next year and it is thought it will counter claims made in Mr Bower's explosive rival biography.
The book is described as being "a new chapter of the royal story and features unique insight, deep access and exclusive revelations".
