Meghan Markle's song request to Idris Elba when he DJ'd Prince Harry wedding

Idris Elba revealed that Meghan Markle requested he play a Dr Dre song when he was DJing at the royal wedding.

The actor, 49, and his wife Sabrina Elba attended the momentous wedding in 2018 and he also was in charge of the tunes after The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry 's nuptials.

While co-hosting with Tiffany Calver on BBC Radio 1Xtra's Rap Show, he shared which song Meghan wanted to listen to.

"Still DRE by Dr Dre went off! It was Meghan’s choice," he said when asked about his experience DJing.

Not only is Idris a talented actor, appearing in the likes of Luther, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Suicide Squad, but he is also experienced in the music industry.

He has released many songs and featured in hit tracks like Boasty, Dance Off and more.

Before he started properly acting and finding worldwide fame, he was DJing.

Idris showcased his love for the decks in his Netflix series Turn Up Charlie, which was cancelled after one season.

At least those attending the royal wedding got to take a glimpse at the DJ side of the actor.

Other celebrity stars at the wedding include George and Amal Clooney, Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams.

Idris previously discussed what it was like taking the decks at Meghan and Harry's wedding and even called it 'stressful'.

The Luther star claimed he was sent a playlist to follow ahead of the function despite his experience DJing at celebrity parties.

He admitted the wedding celebration - at Frogmore House in Windsor, Berkshire - was his "most stressful" DJ gig.

"This wasn’t at the community hall — the reception. This was a big, big deal," Idris explained.

"Meghan had sent me a playlist, so I knew what she wanted already.

"They’re good friends and I wanted to make sure they had a great time, so there was a lot of pressure."

Recently, Idris revealed that he hopes to collaborate with singer Adele one day.

Idris presented her with Album Of The Year at The Brit Awards and said working with her would be a dream.

He explained: “If one day I make a record and Adele says, ‘I kind of like it’, I will definitely build up the courage and say, ‘Hey, Adele, you wanna do a collab?’

“I think I have got to earn some more stripes before that happens.”
