After winning an honourable award for her revolutionary Spotify podcast, Meghan Markle's fans were keen to see her collect her gong for her most recent nomination.
The Duchess of Sussex was awarded Top Entertainment Podcast Host for her Archetypes podcast at the Gracie Awards presented by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation in the United States on Tuesday.
Many were hopeful that Meghan would attend the Beverly Hills award ceremony but it turned out she didn't attend the bash in person and just sent her message of gratitude instead, the Mirror reports.
The mum-of-two was reportedly forced to miss the event due to other commitments.
According to Hello!, Meghan never planned to be present at the ceremony because she had a "personal commitment".
The Gracie Awards which is a celebration that honours programming created for women, by women and about women would have been very fitting for the Duchess who received a Women of Vision award earlier this month.
Meghan's podcast saw her engage in open and honest conversations about the labels and tropes attempt to hold women back, featuring celebrity guests including close pal Serena Williams, Paris Hilton and Mariah Carey.
In a previous statement about her win, she said: "Thank you to the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation for this prestigious honour.
"This is a shared success for me and the team behind Archetypes – most of whom are women – and the inspiring guests who joined me each week."
The Gracie Awards came a week after Meghan, Prince Harry and her mother Doria attended the Ms Foundation for Women's 50th-anniversary gala where the Duchess delivered an inspiring closing speech at the end of the night.
However after they left the event, the couple released a statement saying they were involved in a "near catastrophic car chase" at the hands of the paparazzi who relentlessly chased them while they travelled home.
Mayah Riaz, a PR expert opined that there could be "many reasons" why Meghan chose not to attend the Gracie Awards during an "overwhelming time for the couple".
Riaz said: "The Gracies is an important recognition for Meghan, as the focus is on achievement by women, for women, and about women in all areas of media.
"She would be alongside other notable women within the industry. She received recognition for her Archetypes podcast and the conversations she had on there."
Meanwhile, Kieran Elsby, PR expert at Media PR Global believes Meghan's no-show might be her first step towards a "less is more" approach regarding public experiences.
He said: "Celebrities and public figures often have busy schedules, and conflicts or personal circumstances may arise that prevent them from attending events.
"Personally, I actually think she seems to be doing fewer public appearances recently."
