Meghan Markle's pal claims royals are 'relieved' she won't attend King's Coronation

The historical day is looming just around the corner, as King Charles will officially be crowned as the new head of state on Saturday, May 6. The 74-year-old monarch will be joined by his wife Queen Camilla.

Prince Harry is set to fly out from his US home to return to London for the landmark event at Westminster Abbey with it previously being reported it likely to be a very flying visit from the Duke of Sussex.

Meghan Markle will remain in their family home in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with the service also happening to fall on the same date of their son's fourth birthday, but according to her Royal expert pal, the family will be "relieved."

During an explosive interview on This Morning earlier this week, Omid Scobie opened up on what he believes are the real reasons the Duchess won't be attending as he "disagrees to some extent" it's to do with Archie's birthday.

The royal enthusiast and journalist, best known for co-authoring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex biography Finding Freedom, also during the interview on Wednesday addressed a very pressing question by host Phillip, reports the Mirror.

Phillip asked if certain members of the foyal family would be "relived" by the fact Meghan isn't attending.

"I would say so, and I would put it down to the fact that so much of the attention goes on someone they would rather didn't go on," he claimed.

"If you look back at some of Meghan and Harry's biggest problems, it was all down to the fact that everyone was always talking about them and the attention was on them at times when it shouldn't have been."

"People around the Sussexes guided press at the time that this is very much about Archie's fourth birthday," Omid continued as he speculated on the rumours of Meghan's absence at the landmark event.

He said: "I disagree with that to some extent because I also know from friends of hers that she's protecting her peace as well. She is aware of how much the spotlight goes on her when she sets a foot near the story.

"A lot of that, although its portrayed as intentional that she wants to steal the spotlight but, in this case if she had come over and simply stood next to her husband, I would imagine the commentary and the narrative on the day would very different for the days that follow."

Meanwhile, Omid claimed there has been a "somewhat regular pattern of conversation" between Harry and his father.

However, he added: "It's interesting to compare that with where William and Harry are, which is in the exact same place as where we last saw them."

Holly asked: "No contact?" To which Omid replied: "There's been minimal contact since the funeral."
