Meghan Markle's mind 'changed' by Kate Middleton about going to Balmoral when the Queen died

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is reported to have changed her plans to join her husband, Prince Harry, as he travelled to Balmoral Castle on Thursday following reports that Duchess of Cambridge had remained in London.

There has been some confusion surrounding initial plans by Prince Harry and his wife Meghan to travel to Balmoral Castle together on Thursday.

Just after 12.30pm on Thursday, Buckingham Palace issued a rare statement saying that doctors were concerned about the monarch's health, but that she remained "comfortable" at Balmoral. A number of senior royals then travelled to Scotland to be with Queen Elizabeth II. At about 2pm, it was reported that Harry and Meghan would be flying to Scotland together, but plans changed and the Duke of Sussex travelled to Balmoral without his wife, the Mirror reports

Only Charles and Anne were able to see the Queen before she died as they were already in Scotland with her health deteriorating.

Harry was the last to arrive at Balmoral Castle on Thursday and the first to depart on Friday.

It has not been confirmed why the Duchess of Sussex eventually remained in London - but there have been suggestions that the decision was linked to the fact that the Duchess of Cambridge did not travel to Scotland either.

According to the Daily Mail, Meghan’s mind was allegedly “changed” by Kate. Omid Scobie, the author of the biography Finding Freedom, tweeted that her plans had changed.

He said Meghan would be remaining in London “like the Duchess of Cambridge”. Meghan's plan to head to Scotland with the Duke of Sussex “raised eyebrows” among certain royals, according to reports.

Meghan and Harry were referenced by his dad Charles, now the King, in his first televised address. He used his speech to announce that he had created his son William the Prince of Wales, with Kate the Princess of Wales, and to “express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas”, seen as a symbol of his bid for reconciliation amid past troubles with the Sussexes.
