Meghan Markle's 'Magic Has Faded' — Why Netflix Insiders Say 'We're Done' With The Sussexes

Meghan Markle's Netflix partnership with the Sussexes is crumbling, insiders claim, as Netflix executives privately declare 'We're done' amid flagging projects and personal tensions. This revelation from a recent Variety report comes just hours before the Duchess launched her independent As Ever Bloom Box on 18 March, featuring gardenias and peonies paired with her peppermint tea and sage honey. Prince Harry and Meghan have vehemently denied the account, calling key allegations 'categorically false.'

For context, the couple inked a blockbuster deal with Netflix back in 2020, reportedly worth up to $100 million (£74.97 million) though later pegged closer to $60 million (£44.98 million) by Variety.

Their 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan drew massive audiences, spilling intimate tales of royal exit and media barbs they blamed on Harry's kin. Yet follow-ups stumbled: Harry's polo series fizzled, while Meghan's With Love, Meghan cooking show hit Netflix's Top 10 briefly in early 2025 before a second season and holiday special tanked in ratings.

Netflix Insiders Declare Sussexes' Magic 'Faded'

The Bloom Box, a lush collaboration with San Francisco's High Camp Supply, arrived as Meghan cut ties with Netflix for her lifestyle venture – a split both sides framed as 'always the plan' less than two weeks prior.

Priced for the elite, it bundles fresh blooms with her teas to evoke 'the garden inside,' shipping only in the continental US. But Variety's piece paints a grimmer Hollywood backdrop, quoting one insider: 'The mood in the building is 'We're done.''

Tensions simmer with Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, the Sussexes' Montecito neighbour who mingles socially yet allegedly now fields her calls lawyer-in-tow – a quip or not, it stung. Meghan's attorney Michael J. Kump fired off a letter branding it 'blatantly false,' insisting she texts Sarandos regularly and visits his home sans legal entourage.

At Netflix's 18 March preview, content chief Bela Bajaria swatted rumours: 'Don't believe whatever you read,' touting ongoing TV and film ties, including two book adaptations.

Variety didn't stop at exec gripes. Sources alleged Meghan interrupts Harry mid-sentence, arm or thigh touch preceding a 'recast' of his ideas – a dynamic Harry slammed as 'categorically false,' his wife's team decrying misogynistic tropes of her 'bossing' him. Her Zoom 'disappearances?' Chalked up by lawyers to parenting duties with Archie, six, and Lilibet, four; no offence taken, just mum life.

Netflix and the Sussexes also rubbished claims the streamer was blindsided by their 2021 Oprah bombshells on royal racism and Kate's pre-wedding tears, or that they hoarded Spare dirt post-docuseries.

Last summer's deal downgrade to a 'first-look' arrangement – Netflix greenlighting or nixing ideas – signalled cooling ardour after five years. Spotify's 2023 exit echoed it: head Bill Simmons dubbed them 'f**king grifters' for slim output from Meghan's Archetypes, mocking their Montecito gripes sans royal revelations.

Royal Circles Echo Sussexes' Hollywood Woes

Timing bites harder with Tom Bower's Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, excerpted in The Times ahead of its 26 March release. The investigative author levels that William and Kate pegged Meghan early as a 'divisive agent' and 'threat,' irked she'd never queen it. Bower claims Camilla confided Meghan 'brainwashed' Harry, who ditched mates, swapped numbers sans family notice, all to please her.

The Sussexes hit back, accusing Bower of 'fixation' peddling 'deranged conspiracy.' Yet Bower, vindicated post-Variety to the Daily Express, sees Hollywood's door shutting: 'They're reaching the end of the road.' He scoffs at summer UK return bids tied to Harry's 2027 Birmingham Invictus Games, arguing betrayal bars revalidation as 'not-quite royals.'

A source close to Harry laments the din amid his bridge-building with cancer-battling King Charles: 'Very difficult... he gets judged by association.' Still, Meghan endures, past scrutiny's sting. 'She's sticking up for herself... classic spite tactics' from haters eyeing a 'strong, ambitious woman,' the insider says. Harry stands by his soulmate, eyes on dad duties, polo, philanthropy – though the 'noise' wearies.

Meghan powers on undeterred, chin up against the fray. Bower warns of a 'tough future' priced in royal rupture. Netflix's patience frays, royal ice thickens; the Sussexes' empire teeters, magic arguably faded.
