Meghan Markle's impending return to Instagram is "wishful thinking", claims biographer

Meghan Markle's impending return to Instagram is "wishful thinking" and she does not even have an account, her biographer has said.

Both she and Prince Harry have not had an official social media presence since they sensationally quit as working royals three years ago.

Their final post on their once-active @SussexRoyal Instagram account was in March 2020 - and almost three years on, many have wondered when and if they will return online.

There had been rumours that Meghan had set up a secret account with the handle @Meghan after it reportedly emerged on Instagram with a previously unseen image of the 41-year-old as a child.

But in his latest column for Yahoo, Meghan's biographer and royal expert Omid Scobie writes a rep for the Sussexes says this is "all trash".

He says that a return to Instagram for Meghan is wishful thinking" as a source told him: "She has no account on the platform at present or on the horizon."

Meghan dropped a huge hint she would return to the social media platform last year in a wide-ranging interview with The Cut.

She told the interview: "Do you want to know a secret? I’m getting back … on Instagram" before rowing back and adding she was no longer sure she would actually return.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph reported that fans had been flocking to follow the @Meghan account on Instagram, which has a profile picture of a pink dahlia - a symbol adopted by Sussex supporters.

It comes after another source denied claims that Meghan is feeling "embarrassed" following the release of Harry's tell-all memoir.

The memoir contained several stories from Harry's life before he met his wife, including how he lost his virginity, how he ended up with frostbite on his penis and how he wet himself during a sailing race.

The insider denied Meghan is "seeking support from mentors" and said the Duchess of Sussex is not feeling "excluded" from the King's Coronation, despite rumours circulating that she may not attend.

A source close to Meghan told The Mirror the claims are "ridiculous" and described them as "nothing but lies".

It's unclear if she or Harry will be attending the Coronation of King Charles that is set for Westminster Abbey on May 6.

It is understood that the couple, who live in California, will be invited to the celebrations and plans are being put in place for their attendance.
