Meghan Markle's close friend Tyler Perry 'fights to save' 93-year-old woman's home

Meghan Markle's close friend Tyler Perry is "fighting to save" a 93-year-old woman's home, which has been in her family since the 1800s.

Josephine Wright, 93, desperately wants to keep her South Carolina-located home, which her family have owned since the American Civil War era.

Writer Whitney Alese took to Twitter during the week to bring attention to Josephine's situation, with her explaining that the lady's family has owned land "since the end of enslavement" with the home having "generations of family history".

Whitney added that the home has been a "gathering spot for her seven children, 40 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren & 16 great-great-grandchildren for over 30 years".

Later on in her lengthy Twitter thread, Whitney added: "Bailey Point Investment LLC is constructing 147 housing units that engulf Wright’s property.

"After refusing to sell the land to the developer, they sued her for 'encroaching on their 29 acres'", alleging Wright isn’t the legal heir to the property."

But with celebrities and famous faces hearing about the ordeal, there are many that are quick to weigh in and aid Josephine.

Tyler, 53, who is a close pal of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with him even being the godfather to their daughter Lilibet, has decided to step in.

Tyler has jumped to Josephine's defence as she goes up against the Bailey Point Investment Group over her Hilton Head home.

Helping the Duke and Duchess out when the couple stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, Meghan and Harry spent much of 2020 residing in a $15 million mega-mansion owned by Tyler.

And now it seems that Tyler wants to help someone else who is in need, as elderly Josephine battles with Bailey Point who reportedly want to buy her land.

Not wanting to give it up, the investment group decided to file a lawsuit so they can gain control of the land, with Josephine alleging that she has been harassed into giving up her historic home.

So when billionaire Tyler found out about Josephine's ordeal, he took to Instagram to fume about the situation to his massive following on behalf of the Hilton Head Island resident.

Quoting Josephine, Tyler typed: ''I've pretty much been a fighter all my life' said 93-year-old Josephine Wright.

"Well, that makes two of us. Ms. Wright, please tell where to show up and what you need to help you fight."

TMZ have reported that it is not clear if the two have joined forces as of yet, but added that Josephine did speak to WSAV-TV about the lawsuit Bailey Point have filed against her.

Josephine branded the legal battle as "frivolous", with her telling the channel that they got approval from the town to develop 29 acres of land behind her home.

The investment company then offered to buy her property but she turned them down, which is what sparked the lawsuit so that Bailey Point can buy her land.

Josephine also explained how the property and subsequent land has been in her family since 1861, which is when the Civil War began.

Not only does Josephine have Tyler fighting her corner, but a GoFundMe fundraiser has also been launched to cover any legal costs she might get hit with.

A whopping $147,193 has been raised thus far, with an end goal set at $250,000. It is reported that any money not used on legal fees will be used for her grandchildren's' college funds.
