Meghan Markle rushes to coughing woman's aid with bottle of water during UN conference

Meghan Markle has been praised for quickly rushing to a coughing woman's aid with a bottle of water at the United Nations headquarters.

The Duchess of Sussex, 40, came to the stranger's rescue when she turned around after noticing the woman coughing behind her and husband Prince Harry.

Meghan, who was at the UN conference in New York to support Harry as he delivered a passionate speech, was praised by fans for her quick thinking and generosity.

The Duchess was sitting next to Harry in the front row, who delivered a keynote speech which criticised the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, when she offered her water to the woman who gratefully took a sip.

The quick-thinking Duchess then discreetly put the water back in her bag after helping the stranger with her cough - as she went on to listen to the remaining speakers.

The video has gone viral and fans were quick to praise Meghan for her thoughtful actions, as one social media user wrote: "That’s our gal never misses a beat. Always aware of her surroundings and will help if needed."

Another added: "The kindness everyone who knows Meghan keeps talking about."

And a third user said: "It all just comes natural to them...looking after and looking out for each other, such an amazing couple.'

The couple were invited to the UN conference marking Nelson Mandela Day as Prince Harry was asked to make a speech at the United Nations.

In his lengthy address, Harry said: "This has been a painful year in a painful decade. We are living through a pandemic that continues to ravage communities in every corner of the globe.

"Climate change wreaking havoc on our planet with most vulnerable suffering most of all. The few weaponising lies and disinformation at the expense of the many.

'And from the horrific war in Ukraine to the rolling back of constitutional right in the US we are witnessing a global assault on democracy and freedom the cause of Mandela's life."

Prince Harry also criticised the 'rolling back of constitutional rights' and the US Supreme Court for removing federal abortion protections as he labelled it a 'global assault on democracy and freedom'.
