Meghan Markle puts acting skills to good use at children's hospital in Los Angeles

The Duchess of Sussex has put her acting skills to good use in a visit to a children’s hospital in Los Angeles.

Meghan Markle led a special story time at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles to help support their Make March Matter fundraising campaign last month.

Meghan greeted children with hugs and handshakes and took polaroid pictures with patients after leading a “Literally Healing” session on March 21.

The Duchess sprung into character making the children laugh and sing along as she read some of the patients’ favourite books - including Rosie the Riveter, Pete the Cat and I Saw a Cat.

As part of the performance the ward was also transformed into a bright, night sky with a large projection shining across the ceiling.

Meghan herself is the author of a children’s book.

The duchess published a book about the special bond between father and son—as seen through a mother’s eyes - in 2021.

The book, called The Bench, was inspired by her own husband, Prince Harry, and son, Archie.

“The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born,” the Duchess explained at the time.

“That poem became this story. Christian [Robinson] layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.

“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”
