Meghan Markle risks "pushing herself and Harry even further from the Royal Family" by not attending the King's Coronation.
Prince Harry has confirmed he will be returning to the UK for the event in Westminster Abbey, while his wife will remain in California with their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
It's been reported that Archie's birthday has played a factor in Meghan's decision to stay at home.
A PR expert has warned it could be the wrong move, however, as Meghan's Coronation no-show could "crank up the heat" between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.
"Harry's solo appearance at the Coronation while Meghan's MIA might add fuel to the fire within the Royal Family.
"As spilled in Harry's book, Spare, the duo has already weathered family squabbles.
"Meghan's choice to skip the Coronation could be seen as her pushing herself and Harry even further from the Royal Family, cranking up the heat between them," Chad Teixeira told The Mirror.
He also said the public will have been "banking on a united Royal Family", leaving them disappointed by Meghan's response.
The CEO of celebrity PR agency Daddy The Agency said: "Whether there's a solid reason behind this play or it shows Meghan's stance, one might reckon that they'd hit the pause button on their differences.
"However, only the Royal Family and the Royal Institution will know the full story behind Meghan's decision to stay away."
Meghan and Harry have been surrounded by speculation in recent weeks on whether or not they will be attending the Met Gala.
Prince Harry would become the first ever Royal to go to the prestigious event, if the couple get the greenlight to attend.
Chad warned that Meghan risks "driving a wedge" between her and the public if she attends the Met Gala, however, after turning down the Coronation.
"With Harry rocking up at the Coronation minus Meghan, eyebrows are raised about what hitting the Met Gala could do to Meghan's rep, particularly after giving the Coronation a miss.
"The fallout from her no-show could potentially drive a wedge between her and the Brits and ruffle feathers with the US crowd.
"It's a terrible PR move if she's looking to try mend her already broken relationship with the UK general public," he told us.
