The author behind a biography of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is set to release a new bombshell book on the monarchy's "fight for survival".
Omid Scobie, one of the authors behind Finding Freedom, will release his second book Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival, next summer.
It had previously been revealed that he had been working on a book, and according to the publisher, this new title "pulls back the curtain on an institution in turmoil—exposing the chaos, family dysfunction, distrust and draconian practices threatening its very future".
The title Endgame, comes from the word used to describe the last part of a strategic game or process.
And in a description of the book, the publisher says: "On September 8, 2022, the world stood still as news broke of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
Her death dismantled the protective shield around the world’s most famous family and saw a long-simmering crisis of confidence in the British monarchy begin to resurface.
"Now, with unique insight, deep access and exclusive revelations, journalist Omid Scobie pulls back the curtain on an institution in turmoil—exposing the chaos, family dysfunction, distrust and draconian practices threatening its very future.
"This is the monarchy’s endgame. Do they have what it takes to save it?"
News of the book, which will be released on August 1, 2023, comes just days before the second part of Harry and Meghan's explosive docuseries is set to drop on Netflix.
In the first three episodes released last Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex railed against their treatment by the Firm.
Harry signified an ”unconscious bias” of racism at the heart of the institution while Meghan labelled William and Kate emotionless after she hugged them at their first meeting.
Harry also claimed the royals asked why Meghan should be "protected" from media speculation, alleging he was told it was something all royal women - including Princess Diana and Kate - have to go through.
While Meghan said she was left unprepared for royal life as she didn't know what a walkabout was and wore muted colours to blend in.
Meanwhile, a trailer for the next episodes sees Harry say that people were “happy to lie” to protect his brother Prince William, while Meghan claims she was "fed to the wolves".
It starts with Harry, who is heard saying: “I wonder what would’ve happened to us had we not got out when we did.”
Meghan adds: “Our security was being pulled. Everyone in the world knew where we were.”
The duke also can be heard saying: “I said, ‘We need to get out of here’.”
Images of a man with his face blurred, a plane flying, Harry filming a video on his phone and newspapers being made also appear on screen.
Meghan and Harry also address their relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales and the rift that has opened since their move to the US.
The duchess tells the camera: “I wasn’t being thrown to the wolves, I was being fed to the wolves.”
While an image of Buckingham Palace is shown, Harry adds: “They were happy to lie to protect my brother (William). They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”
It is unclear who the duke is referring to as “they”.
Clips of Harry and Meghan’s wedding are also played alongside news footage and newspaper headlines about the pair.
Meghan says: “It gave us a chance to create that home we always wanted.”
Harry adds: “I’ve always felt as though this was a fight worth fighting for,” as photographs and video footage of him and his family are shown.
