Meghan Markle and her team have reportedly been left “very frustrated” over a small detail regarding her recent appearance on MasterChef Australia.
ICYMI, the Duchess of Sussex swung by the MasterChef kitchen to appear as a guest judge on the 18th season, which officially premiered over the weekend.
In the lead up to Meghan’s appearance, Channel 10 ran a promo ad on social media in which Masterchef judge Poh Ling said: “We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but no one like this.”
While that sounds straightforward enough, the wording and use of the term “royal” in the intro apparently ruffled a few feathers, since Meghan and her team usually try to avoid fueling debate over her royal status.
“They’re very frustrated,” a source claimed to news.com.au, adding that Meghan and her team had “specifically” told MasterChef to not use the term “royal”.
Meghan, who walked through the MasterChef doors after Ling’s introduction, apparently couldn’t hear how she was being introduced into the kitchen.
“They were outside the doors when it was filmed, so didn’t know what had been said,” the source claimed.
Meghan has not yet confirmed whether this is the case, and the source’s claims should be taken with a grain of salt — which makes sense given MasterChef is all about the seasoning.

The term “royal” is technically applicable to both Meghan and Prince Harry, but the pair did revoke their Royal Highness titles when stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
In any case, critics are unfortunately hellbent on getting semantical whenever Meghan and Harry are associated with the term “royal”, which is perhaps why they reportedly try to avoid that inevitable discourse altogether for Meghan’s MasterChef guest spot.
Channel 10 declined to comment when contacted by PEDESTRIAN.TV.
Meghan’s MasterChef appearance came during her and Prince Harry’s just-wrapped Aussie visit, which took them to engagements in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.

In the latter city, the pair stopped by Swinburne University of Technology to discuss social media and mental health — with Meghan telling students she was “the most trolled person on earth” and Harry praising Australia’s under-16s social media ban as “epic”.
Elsewhere, Meghan attended the Sydney retreat for the Her Best Life podcast, co-founded by Gemma O’Neil and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.
Meghan and Harry jetted home after their brief four-day visit on Saturday.
