Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are home in California after a trip to the UK for the Queen's Jubilee.
The couple are reported to have left the UK before the final events of the weekend kicked off to mark the Queen's 70 years on the throne.
The Sussexes set off from Farborough Airport in a private jet at around 1.30pm on Sunday, the Mirror reports, just as the £15 million Platinum Jubilee Pageant got underway outside Buckingham Palace.
The extravagant finale concluded days of festivities up and down the country.
The Duke and Duchess were accompanied by their two children, Archie, three, and one-year-old Lillibet.
The Mirror reports their exit came as experts claimed Harry was struggling with his new "second row royal" role.
Fans also are claiming that Meghan snubbed Kate Middleton.
Tensions began within the inner royal circle after the pair's bombshell interview with Oprah last year during which they made allegations of racism and Meghan spoke openly about her fractured relationship with Kate.
This weekend was the first public appearance Harry and Meghan have made alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge since moving to the US two years ago.
The Sussexes were also noticeably absent from the limelight during the celebrations and were spotted sitting several rows behind Prince Charles and Prince William during Friday's Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's cathedral.
The duchesses are also reported to have never come face-to-face during the celebrations after eagle-eyed royal fans pointed out that Meghan could be seen "turning away" from Kate when she arrived at the cathedral.
The Sussexes were met with boos from the public as they left the service.
It is thought that their trip cost more than £150,000, but it is not clear who footed the bill.
They were transferred into a Buckingham Palace-owned VW people carrier and provided with a low-key escort and security detail when they arrived in the country.
The monarch returned to Buckingham Palace on Sunday to acknowledge the crowd after the conclusion of the Platinum Jubilee Pageant.
Appearing on the balcony and flanked by members of the royal family, the Queen was met with rapturous applause and stayed for a rousing rendition of the national anthem.
Now 96 years of age, she has been largely absent from the celebrations due to her ongoing mobility issues. She has spent most of the four days at Windsor Castle.
In a statement released on Sunday evening, the Queen said she had been "humbled and deeply touched" that so many had come out to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee.
"While I may not have attended every event in person, my heart has been with you all, " she said. "And I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family."
The Queen said that she had been "inspired by the kindness, joy and kinship" evident over recent days, and said she hoped that this "renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come".
She concluded: "I thank you most sincerely for your good wishes and for the part you have all played in these happy celebrations."
