Meghan Markle and Harry 'very money driven and want $12million a year like James Corden'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are "very money driven" like their friend James Corden, a former royal correspondent living near the couple has said.

Richard Mineards, who used to ply his trade for the Mirror among other publications, has now set up camp close to the Duke and Duchess in Montecito, California.

According to the journalist the family are happy at the moment, and enjoying a huge return on the $14.7 million (£10.9 million) they spent on their mansion in the summer of 2020.

By his estimate the grand 7-acre property would now sell for $6million (£4.5million) more, due to a huge 43% rise in house prices in the area.

Mineards says this will be music to the ears of Harry, 37, and his 40-year-old wife.

“I think they’re very money driven (with their) Spotify and Netflix and whatever other deals they can come across and also registering their companies in Delaware which is a more tax free community," he told the Evening Standard.

“They’ve obviously got their eye on the money like their good friend James Corden who now earns something like $12 million (£9million) per season of The Late Late Show.

"I think they’d like to get on that sort of level where hopefully they can earn lots of money and get their views across but also do good things with The Archewell foundation (the couple’s non-profit organisation) as well.”

James Corden, 43, has hosted the Late Late show for six years.

In October, he reportedly signed a mega two-year deal with US TV chiefs to keep presenting the show.

Harry and Meghan signed a lucrative deal thought to be worth £18million with Spotify to produce podcasts back in 2020, and an eyewatering £100million plus contract with Netflix.

Mineards has been generally keeping an eye on the royal couple, and says they appear to be happy.

Harry regularly heads out on his bicycle while Meghan enjoys walking their adopted Labrador on a nearby beach.

Archie, Harry and Meghan's oldest child, soaks up the balmy Californian weather while playing outside on the lawn.

“Like his dad, Archie likes to be barefoot,” a source told the American OK magazine.

Meghan also appears to be enjoying her time at home, and recently opened up about the opportunity she had during the lockdown to spruce it up.

“We moved here during lockdown, exactly when things shut down, so we’ve just been able to spend a lot of time at home and creating our home,” Meghan told friend and neighbour Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show in November.
