Meghan Markle has cancelled her appearance on the The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and pushed back the release date of her new podcast episode as she prepares for the Queen's funeral. The Duchess of Sussex was set to appear on the American talk show just weeks after her bombshell interview with The Cut, in which she said she was happy to have left Britain to start a new life in the US.
The latest episode of her podcast, Archetypes, has been postponed to a later date. Meghan and Harry's scheduled visit to the UN General Assembly in New York City with has also been cancelled in the wake of the Queen's death.
The announcement comes after King Charles III offered the couple an olive branch in his first speech to the nation as the new monarch. In his tearful address, the king said he wished to "express his love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas".
Meghan was booked to appear on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, September 20. She was due to be in New York City with Prince Harry to appear before the 77th session of the UN General Assembly on the same day.
But their plans have been put on hold as they mourn leading up to and following the Queen's state funeral, expected to be scheduled for September 19, though no official date has yet been announced A source told Page Six : “Meghan was due on Fallon. I don’t even know what she was going to talk about, but that’s obviously canceled now.”
Following the Queen's death, the Royal Family entered into a 10-day mourning period, during which all plans been put on hold or cancelled. Meghan's podcast was launched on August 23 and has been released every Tuesday since then, with the last one released on September 6.
However, the Duchess is planning to postpone the release of the next episode, Page Six reported. The couple had arrived back in London from their European tour and were together in Frogmore Cottage in Windsor when news of the Queen's ailing health broke.
