AHMEDABAD: After two years of the pandemic, the juggernaut is set to roll again on city streets on Friday. In 2020, the chariots did not leave the temple premises, whereas in 2021, the chariots were taken out in a procession without other participants.
Mahendra Jha, trustee of the Jagannathji temple, on Monday told mediapersons that the procession will be held in full strength on Friday, for the 145th Rath Yatra. “The procession will have 18 elephants, 101 tableaux, 20 akhadas, 18 bhajan mandalis and three musical bands. About 1,200 khalasi (navigators) will pull the three chariots, and about 1,000 sadhus from different parts of India will participate in the procession,” he said. The procession will start at 7am and is expected to be end by 8.30pm, he added.
