Hundreds of ice hockey players have taken to the rink at Warners Bay this week for an annual national tournament.
Hunter Ice Skating Stadium has hosted the 2026 Ice Hockey Australia National Championships.
Players from as young as under-13 to under-18 have competed in their respective age groups, along with senior women.
The event, held over 10 days from July 10-19, has brought teams from right across Australia, except for the Northern Territory and Tasmania.
"More than 20 teams, probably 22, 23, on each team, plus all the officials," Hunter Ice Skating Stadium general manager Garry Dore said.
"It's been really, really busy, and it's just great to have the events here and showcase young Australian hockey players.
"We held it two years ago, so it's the second time round for us."
St. Louis Blues player Nathan Walker, who competes in North America's National Hockey League (NHL), dropped in on Wednesday to help inspire the next generation.
The first finals were played the same day. Victoria won both the women's and under-15 age group finals.
Games continue until Sunday night, but will break on Saturday when the Newcastle Northstars host Adelaide Adrenaline at the venue at 5pm.
The Northstars are joint Australian Ice Hockey League leaders with a month's worth of games left to play before the play-offs.
