‘Mega dinghy’ carrying record number of migrants crosses the English Channel

Channel Care4Calais Home Office Border Security Command Refugee

A new record was set on Thursday as 165 migrants successfully crossed the Channel to the UK aboard a single vessel. This figure surpasses the previous high of 128 people who made the perilous journey from France in a single boat back in July.

Images captured by the Press Association showed Border Security Command personnel towing the vessel, which media outlets have labelled a "mega dinghy", into Dover on Thursday afternoon.
