Meet the North East sea swimmers from the first episode of BBC's We Are England

A new BBC one current affairs show filmed from the corporation's Newcastle hub has shone a light on the region's cold water swimming community.

We Are England, which aims to 'put current affairs into the hands of the people,' kicked off its run by exploring the theme of 'mind & me' and got to know more about cold water swimming in the icy waters of the North Sea.

The episode followed retired police officer Jacqui Croskery along with friends Kirk and Sarah-Jane, who go cold water swimming, which helps their physical and mental wellbeing.
