Meet Oratilwe “DJ Arch Jnr” Hlongwane, the South African boy who started DJing at 8 months and won South Africa's Got Talent at 3

Oratilwe AJ Hlongwane from South Africa became known as a remarkably talented young DJ. His journey started when he was only eight months old, and his abilities continued to develop as he obtained experience with DJ applications and then professional equipment.

Oratilwe Began DJing at Eight Months

Oratilwe initially became interested in DJing when he was just eight months old. His father bought him an iPad Mini, and the youngster started experimenting with DJ apps.

Oratilwe continued developing his skills and his early experience with the apps eventually led him to practice using professional DJ equipment.

DJ Arch Jnr Won South Africa’s Got Talent at Three

Oratilwe performs under the stage name DJ Arch Jnr. His early talent gained significant recognition when he won South Africa’s Got Talent in 2015 at only three years old.

The achievement added to the attention surrounding the young performer and his unusual musical abilities at such an early age.

Youngest Club DJ Record

Oratilwe later officially became the world’s Youngest club DJ after performing an hour-long set at a bar in Cosmo City, Johannesburg, South Africa.

For the record attempt, the five-year-old performed using professional DJ decks in front of an audience of 100 people. His performance earned him the Guinness World Records title.

The record had earlier been held by six-year-old Itsuki Morita from Japan, who was announced as the record holder in March 2017. Oratilwe took the title from Morita after his own successful performance.

From a DJ App to Professional Equipment

Oratilwe’s development as a DJ began with a simple introduction to DJ apps on an iPad Mini. As his skills improved, he progressed to professional DJ gear.

For his Guinness World Records attempt, he had to use professional DJ equipment. His continued practice on the gear helped him perform the hour-long set required for the record attempt.

Oratilwe’s story shows how an interest that began during infancy developed into a recognized DJ career while he was still a child. From experimenting with DJ apps at eight months to winning South Africa’s Got Talent at three and setting a Guinness World Records title at five, DJ Arch Jnr gained recognition for his skills at an exceptionally young age.
