Coronation Street fans are being given another chance to meet members of the TV soap's cast during special events this summer. The Coronation Street Experience at MediaCity in Salford, Greater Manchester, has relaunched its Star Tours - offering the opportunity to take a tour of the real set as well as greeting one of the show's actors.
The precise cast member taking part each time will be a surprise. However, last weekend the star was Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk Sutherland, while previous tours have featured past and present names including Chris Gascoyne who plays Peter Barlow, Alan Halsall who currently stars as Tyrone Dobbs as well as Dolly-Rose Campbell who portrays Gemma Winter.
The tours of the cobbled street last for 90 minutes. After meeting the cast member and posing for a picture, visitors then head inside to explore an exhibition and replica sets.
Star Tours are limited and only run from 1.45pm to 4.15pm on August 5 and 6, and on September 2 and 3, 2023. There are also standard tour and exhibition tickets available.
The Coronation Street Experience's recently-opened visitor centre allows fans to take a seat in the Roy’s Rolls café or ring last orders in the Rovers Return using the original bell used by Bet Lynch and Liz McDonald. Costumes and props from over 60 years of drama – including Deirdre Barlow’s glasses – are also on show, while a cinema shows Corrie highlights on a big screen.
Tickets for the full Coronation Street Experience can be booked most weekends when the live working film set isn’t being used for filming, while the exhibition and visitor centre is open seven days a week. Tickets for the exhibition start from £7.50 per person, with tickets for the tour and exhibition priced from £35.00 per person.
Star Tours cost £45 for adults and £42.50 for under-16s. Visit https://www.coronationstreetexperience.co.uk/book-now/ to book.
