With it being the most romantic day of the year, the team at Dogs Trust Manchester is hoping Cupid’s arrow strikes for two-year-old Italian Corso Cross, Cleo, as she has been waiting half her life to find her special someone.
If you are looking for love of the canine kind and enjoy long walks in the countryside, then the Denton-based rehoming centre is hoping Cleo will be your perfect match this Valentine’s Day.
The poor pooch had a difficult start in life as she had to be separated from her siblings as a puppy after developing parvovirus - a highly infectious disease that often proves fatal. But against the odds, Cleo survived.

Although Cleo made a full recovery, she had sadly missed out on important life lessons, crucial to helping young dogs develop the social skills they need to form relationships when they head out into the world.
Lisa Eardley, Dogs Trust Manchester Manager, said “Although Cleo is playing catch-up when it comes to mastering her social skills with people and dogs, she deserves to be lucky in love.
“She is a gorgeous girl with a cheeky personality who loves a cuddle, but also thoroughly enjoys getting out and about. What more could you ask for? So, if your idea of fun is heading to the hills for long walks in the countryside, then you enjoy settling down for a relaxing evening, Cleo could be the one for you.”
The Italian Corso cross would like to be the only pet in her new home and she would like a home without children so she can lap up all the love. She likes to take things slowly when it comes to meeting people so she will need to meet her new owners at the centre a few times before heading home for short stays and eventually unpacking her bags and staying the night.
Lisa added: “Cleo has been through a lot, but she is still young and has so much to offer. She is a giddy girl, full of character and is really affectionate once she has had time to get to know you.
“She will need owners who are happy to carry on with her training so she can become the best she can be, but she has already come on in leaps and bounds. We know she will make her owners smile and laugh every day, so we really hope she finds the love she deserves this Valentine’s Day.”
Cleo will also need a secure garden where she can burn off some of her energy and she will need to be able to be separated from the front door so that when visitors arrive, she can be introduced gradually. She prefers walks in quieter areas away from traffic and where she won’t meet up with too many four-legged friends.
After waiting a whole year for a home, will it be ‘drooly, madly, deeply’ for Cleo this February 14? We certainly hope so.
