Rangers have not made an approach to sign FC Twente centre-back Mees Hilgers.
There had been speculation over a transfer proposal from Ibrox chiefs to land the 23-year-old defender in recent days.
However, according to FC Twente technical director Arnold Bruggink, no concrete offers for Hilgers have been received by the Eredivisie club.
In TC Tubantia, Leon ten Voorde reported that Bruggink revealed he had received no contact from Rangers over a possible transfer swoop.
Hilgers has been a regular starter for the Dutch club and was involved in the 2-2 friendly against Motherwell on Friday.
The defender played 33 times for Twente last term and it's thought there could be interest in his services during the summer transfer window.
However, as it stands, no formal approach has been made by Rangers - as reported by Ten Voorde after the draw against Motherwell.
Any deal for Hilgers, though, would come at a cost with the defender signing a new contract at Twente last year.
He is now contracted with the Dutch club until the summer of 2026 meaning a, potentially premium, transfer fee would be required.
Philippe Clement has already landed five transfer signings this summer with Jefte, Oscar Cortes, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron and Liam Kelly joining Rangers during the off-season.
The Ibrox boss - supported by director of football recruitment Nils Koppen - is also close to making his sixth signing with Moroccan strike Hamza Igamane ready to join Rangers.
And Clement has vowed there will also be "experience coming into the building" in a transfer update with club media on Saturday.
"We had five players going out of the club at the end of their contracts and we didn't get any money in," he told Rangers TV. "We lost five players but for the moment it was easier to get the young players but there will also be experience coming into the building and we need a good balance in the squad of both.
"It was important to find these young talents and I think we found some exciting talents for the future of this club. They are ready to play some minutes in the beginning but certainly in the next couple of years."
