Storm Franklin led to some atrocious playing conditions in the Allianz League at the weekend - not least for Down’s draw with Meath at Páirc Tailteann.
Such was the strength of the wind in Navan that one sideline free from a Meath player almost returned to his feet.
A tweet of the incident has been viewed almost 80,000 times on Twitter with one GAA fan likening it to a rugby kick for touch.
“(Ulster out-half) Billy Burns would be happy with that, five metres out from the corner!” he wrote.
The blustery conditions didn't help the spectacle, with Meath and Down only scoring three points between them in the second half of their Division 2 clash.
All three points came from Meath frees with the final score reading 2-06 apiece.
It was the first point of the League campaign for both counties, with both Down and Meath currently staring at a relegation scrap.
A series of matches were called off across the divisions on Sunday including the Division 2 meeting of Galway and Offaly, a Division 3 clash between Westmeath and Longford and the Sligo-Cavan game in Division 4.
The Salthill meeting between Galway and Offaly was initially cleared to play but Galway GAA subsquently announced that the match was off due to an upgraded weather alert.
A similar situation happened at Wexford Park, with the Division 4 clash between Wexford and Tipperary cancelled just minutes before throw-in after a deluge of rain.
But those involved in the matches that went ahead faced some horrendous playing conditions, as witnessed at Páirc Tailteann.
