Meath GAA have apologised after their official account slammed Down GAA playing facilities, calling McKenna Park a 'kip'.
Offaly GAA originally tweeted about the venue and Meath GAA replied calling it a 'kip' and stated that inter county games should not be held there.
And the County Board have come out and apologised for the Tweet.
In a statement issued by Meath GAA, they said: "Coiste na Mí C.L.G. are aware of an offensive tweet coming from our Twitter account this afternoon. This tweet in no way reflects the views of Coiste na Mí C.L.G.
"A full investigation of how the tweet was posted commenced in the aftermath of the tweet and is currently underway.
"We have been in contact with the Down County Board apologising for the tweet which was deleted as soon as we became aware of it."
And Meath released a further statement later on Monday, confirming the person responsible was no longer a member of their PR team.
The statement reads: "Following an investigation in relation to an offensive tweet posted on the Meath GAA Twitter account, a member of the Public Relations team has this morning accepted responsibility for posting the tweet.
"Coiste na Mí C.L.G. can confirm that this person is no longer a member of the Public Relations team.
"We apologise once again for the offence caused by the tweet."
Meath won their second football clash of the year yesterday as they battled past Clare in Division Two.
