Tom Fletcher has been flooded with support after revealing he spent some of his Easter break in hospital after suffering a painful eye emergency. The McFly singer took to social media over the weekend to share the health update with his followers.
The 37-year-old shared an array of snaps from the hospital as he waited for medical attention on Easter Sunday. In one image the Strictly Come Dancing star's eye looked noticeably inflamed, reports The Mirror.
After being seen, the dad-of-three shared two updates from home, explaining he faced six weeks of recovery time and that he was feeling "wiped out" as he informed fans he was suffering from Uveitis for a third time. Sharing an Instagram story, Tom wrote: "Home. Another 6 weeks of steroid eye drops here we go." He later added: "I've literally been asleep all day! Just woken up. Third time I've had Uveitis and each time it's wiped me out like this."
According to the NHS, uveitis is an inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, called the uvea or uveal tract. It can cause eye pain, redness, and vision changes, including blurry or cloudy sight.
Tom later shared a picture he'd sketched of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonker and told his followers: "Thought I’d sketch something chocolatey for Easter. I haven’t drawn in ages and ended up having a uveitis flare up so was drawing with one eye."
"Quality! Get that eye seen too mate, uveitis is horrendous," wrote one. While another added: "Hoping the eye heals quickly."
"Your so talented it amazing hope your eye infection clears up very soon," said a third, while a fourth commented: "That’s amazing! Uveitis sucks, so I feel your pain." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
