McDonald’s warns some items could disappear from menu due to supply chain ‘challenges’

Fast food giant McDonald’s has issued a warning to customers that items could disappear from the menu due to issues with the company’s supply chain.

Signs have appeared in some McDonald’s branches reading: "Due to supply chain challenges, some menu items may be served with some ingredients missing and others may be temporarily unavailable. We apologise in advance to any customers impacted and thank you for your patience."

The popular food chain has not confirmed which items could be affected by the issue, or whether anything on the menu has so far been pulled. A spokesperson told The Mirror that McDonald’s is "experiencing pressures" across its supply chain which "may impact a small number of our menu items", adding that McDonald's is "working hard" to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

The restaurant chain has already been impacted by supply issues this year, having to serve one slice of tomato in its Big Tasty burgers instead of the usual two after experiencing a shortage of tomatoes back in April. It was also forced to pull its new Chicken Big Mac Burger after huge demand from diners saw it quickly sell out.

Last year also saw McDonald’s run out of milkshakes and bottled drinks, with the issue reportedly caused by a shortage of delivery drivers. Signs warning of potential new supply chain problems have so far been spotted in London's Chelsea, Cambridgeshire and Edinburgh.
