McDonald's unveils giant helter-skelter as it launches new Winning Sips promotion

London’s Southbank saw a giant helter-skelter in the shape of a McDonald’s cold cup unveiled on Monday to celebrate the launch of a new promotion called Winning Sips, which will see millions of prizes up for grabs. McDonald’s is inviting members of the public to come down to Observation Point to take a ride down the giant fairground favourite - designed to look like the cup from the forthcoming promotion.

TV personality Olivia Attwood was on hand to face her fear of heights once again as she took to the towering 35ft ride, declaring the slide officially open to the public. Passers-by also got a glimpse of the former Love Islander who also briefly featured on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here handing out fries and limited-edition McDonald’s merchandise ranging from bucket hats to limited edition Coca-Cola glasses.

Olivia said: “Jumping out a helicopter in Australia was the most amazing experience of my life and when McDonald’s invited me to be the first to ride this giant slide, I couldn’t resist to get my thrill-seeking fix again!”

Launching on Wednesday, Winning Sips will give customers the chance to make the most of their sips and slurps by winning millions of prizes including £10,000 cash, menu favourites and limited-edition merch such as bucket hats, towels and Coca-Cola glasses when purchasing a medium or large soft drink.

It comes ahead of Monopoly at McDonald’s returning with "more prizes than ever" later in the year. Every medium or large soft drink will have a sticker to peel on the front of the cup, or head to the McDonald’s App for a chance to play and win.

Also launching on Wednesday is the Steakhouse Stack, a new beef burger added to the McDonald’s menu, as well as the long-awaited return of the Chicken Big Mac. App Play is available on the McDonald’s App and customers can take part by downloading via Google Play or the Apple App Store here.
