Vegan McDonald's fans have a treat to look forward to in the new year with the introduction of the Double McPlant burger.
Set to rollout in the UK and Ireland on January 4, the new burger from McDonald's comes just in time for anyone participating in Veganuary next month.
The item is an extra large offering of the original burger made, featuring Beyond Meat patties including vegan sauce, fresh onion, pickles, lettuce tomato, and vegan cheese which the chain promises tastes 'just like McDonald's iconic cheese slices'.
McDonald's reports the Double McPlant is 'vegan certified' and is cooked separately from other burgers and sandwiches with dedicated utensils.
Fans of the golden arches have been calling for a double-sized version on social media after it made its UK debut in September 2021 after three years of development.
One customer tweeted: "Double McPlant is a game changer. I've really enjoyed it the couple of times I've had it, but it's just not big enough."
A second said: "I need a double mcplant" whilst another complimented its 'meaty' taste: "I can't believe that the McDonald's beyond meat #mcplant the meat tastes more meaty than any McDonald's actual meat burgers."
The vegan burger joins a line-up of other big McDonald's burgers, including the Double Big Mac, Chicken Big Mac, Double Quarter Pounder, Double and Triple Cheeseburger.
The Double McPlant burger will be available from January 4 for £4.89 or £6.49 as a meal.
