A man claims McDonald's has started investigating him because he keeps revealing their 'fast-food secrets' online. TikTok user Jordan Howlett, who has more than nine million followers, uses his platform to share trade 'secrets' or little known information about the world's largest companies.
In a recent video, he revealed how McDonald's make their fries taste so good, saying they use "beef flavouring mixed within their vegetable oil" to create their signature taste. He adds: "That's why the fries taste so good but also so different from everybody else's. So, probably bad news for vegetarians."
Before ending his video, he claims this extra flavouring isn't added in the UK, Canada or Australia, meaning they remain veggie friendly.
A statement on McDonald's US website reads: "When our suppliers partially fry our cut potatoes, they use an oil blend that contains beef flavouring.
"This ensures the great-tasting and recognisable flavour we all love from our world famous fries."
The fast-food chain also lists 'natural beef flavour' in the item's nutritional information.
In comparison, a statement on their UK website reads: "McDonald's UK French Fries are made by McCain's using Russet Burbank, Pentland Dell and Shepody potatoes, which are chosen for their quality, taste and long shape when cut.
"The fries are not coated in any fats or substances from an animal.
"Once at the restaurant, our fries are simply cooked in dedicated frying vats in a non-hydrogenated blend of sunflower and rapeseed oil which is 100 percent suitable for vegans."
Commenting on his video, one user said: "Protect this man and his secrets."
Another user added: "Not all heroes wear capes."
A third user said: "Those fries slap though."
One more user added: "I knew this one for years."
