McDonald's is adding a new vegan burger to its menu in the New Year.
From January 4, fans of the McPlant will be able to get their hands on the Double McPlant in all UK & Ireland restaurants. The Double McPlant features two Beyond Meat patties, a vegan sesame bun, mustard, ketchup, the ultimate vegan sandwich sauce, fresh onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato and vegan cheese.
The new burger is vegan-certified and cooked separately from other McDonald’s burgers and sandwiches, using dedicated utensils. The original McPlant, which took the fast-food chain over three years to develop, has been a hit with customers since its launch in September 2021.

And many took to social media to ask for a doubled-up version, with some even claiming it was a 'game-changer', reports The Mirror. One person said: "I know it's 7am but when are @mcdonaldsuk going to allow a Double McPlant?? All I want is the option to have two patties. this is the important stuff I need addressed."
Another fan tweeted: "I have said on many occasions that the McPlant has changed my life, but if there were to be a double McPlant? I can only imagine."
A third said: "Double McPlant is a game-changer. I've really enjoyed [the McPlant] the couple of times I've had it, but it's just not big enough." Another customer added: "McDonald’s needs to do a double McPlant because one Pattie just ain’t enough."
The Double McPlant will be available from January 4 for £4.89 on its own, or £6.49 as a meal. It has not yet been confirmed how long the new burger will be on the menu for.
